It’s so easy to be disheartened, so easy to get lazy.
You drag yourself to the track and get reminded about the things you really need to do, but you can’t because you’re injured.
It’s so easy to accept, so easy to give up.
But no, not this time, I’m not going to take the easy way out.
It’s so easy to lose focus, so I’ve put some pictures on my wall to remind myself.
Stay focused, never give up.
Yesterday I went for the Founder’s Day dinner at the invitation of my ex-coach who is now vice principal of the boarding school. Despite his success now, he didn’t seem to be too happy. But it was comforting to know that all of us still had a jolly good time and seeing the bunch of us again after all these years cheered him up.
At the end of it all he left us with some food for thought. “So how does a (smart)phone find its location?” he asked. “By satellites?” quipped my ex-captain. “How many?” he continued. “Three.” My capt and I answered in unison.
Similarly in life, we need our guiding beacons. And despite all the good values that our school inculcated in us, he said that we were never taught the importance of philosophy and religion, things which have become the guiding posts in his life. And the reason we were taught the motto of loving our school is so that we can love something greater than ourselves, so we will not shrink as a person and become self-centered.
So what are the beacons in your life?
They will give you the answers to that which you’re fighting for.
Sorry for the late reply bro, deep question, I guess I’m still trying to figure that part out. How bout yourself now that you are about to grad? What are the beacons that you are heading towards in your life?
