Was down in London again yesterday at the Singapore High Commission to help out at the UKSSC AGM, a Singaporean Student community organisation.
At the start of the year I thought about not bothering with anything else other than my goal of becoming a good decathlete. I looked at my mate who didn’t give a shit about anything else other than her sport and managed to within a shorter amount of time get so much further than I ever did.
I though, maybe all these years I’ve stretched myself too thin, tried to do too much. And maybe it’s time to be a little more selfish. Time to make my time my own.
But then I realised I’m not like that.
I don’t know why but I’ve always felt strongly the innate need to help others. Making life just slightly better for others is worth so much more than just self indulgence.
One of the reasons why I started out on this path was that I wanted to show and hopefully do enough to inspire others to keep chasing their dreams and be the best that they can be. Show that it doesn’t matter where you start out at but it matters where you’re trying to go.
I’m not sure I’ve done enough for that, but I’m not going to stop trying.
So make it a point to do a small bit of good in this world, for this world.
Have a good week ahead!
