So yes, I am half naked here, guess I’ll only have half the influence I normally have then. But anyway, on with the blog post.
Today is 24 years + 1 day and as I’m still recovering from what I did to myself yesterday (leg’s are in a mess so I took today off, training tomorrow and resting on Sunday), I pretty much had nothing to do now that school’s over.
After wasting the morning at home it hit me that it’s time to get up and get my sh*t together. Life’s not going to wait for me whilst I get my act together, nothing’s going to happen if I keep going like this.
They say the clothes make the man and that looking the part is half the battle won, so I decided to start winning that half.
I set aside a budget, grabbed my car keys, drove out to Nottingham (about half an hour away from Loughborough) and got cracking.
First up I bought a new pair of jeans from Diesel (Larkee Regular-Straight, £77 after a 30% discount, gotta love the summer sale). This should replace that tired old pair of jeans that I’ve worn for way too long. Wanted to get a few tops but nothing really caught my eye, the ones that I tried on didn’t really fit nicely (you’ll be suprised how hard it is to find nice fitting t-shirts for me because of my somewhat broad shoulders).
Wanted to buy a pair of Ray-Ban Aviators (cause everyone looks cooler with shades on) but I couldn’t find the pair I wanted (hit this link to take a look at the one I want, let me know if you have any comments or recommendations about this) so I had to give this a skip for now, will look at other towns or online stores.
Move on then to getting some moisuturiser for my face from LUSH (Cosmetic Lad £10.75). LUSH is this really cool UK company that makes really interesting skin care/shower/cosmetics. Before you think I’ve gone all metro, the reason why I’m using this is because the normal moisturisers I get from the supermarket somehow makes me ‘sweat’ for some weird reason, as if the cream is not absorbed by my skin and turns into a layer of watery stuff that makes me look as if I’m sweating. And no I’m not turning any younger so it’s time to take care of the skin too.
Next up got a tub of styling wax. Usually I just cut my hair short so that I don’t really have to bother with it, but that’s just being lazy and it’s time to get on top of it. I have really wavy hair that looks weird if I leave it long and unkept (hence the reason I tend to keep it short), but I think I’ll leave it a little longer now and take some effort into styling it.
I know that some people think dressing up and spending money on clothes is a waste of time and money, but honestly ask yourself: If given the choice, would you rather look your best, or just be a pile of slobbish mess?
Yes if you ain’t got the substance looks are worth no sh*t, but that’s why we’re going to be working on the whole package, not just the wrapping.
Time to get sharp gentlemen.
hehe..if the athletics thing doesn’t work out..underwear model, maybe? i kid. =p
I’ll keep that in mind 😉
