Keeping to the yellow brick road…

Picture grabbed off the internet.

Just finished reading The Wonderful Wizards of Oz by L. Frank Baum (thanks to Ken who left a reference to the book at the comments here previously) and what a brilliant little story it is.

A little story that reminds us that the journey may be long and full of perils, but the trip is always worth the troubles.

A little story that reminds us that the friends we meet along our way, are the ones who’ll get you through the days.

A little story that reminds us that what you so desperately seek, may be already in a place where you least expect it.

I think back about my own journey and somehow the destination still seems so infinitely far away.

Sometimes I wish I was more talented, but I’m not.

Sometimes I wish I started younger, but I did not.

Sometimes I wish I am not injured, but I am.

Not many days left till my next decathlon and self-doubt is starting to creep in again.

I started the journey, now I got to finish it.

From the movie The Wonderful Wizard of Oz 1939.

Signed up for a 110m hurdles race later and somehow I find myself afraid, afraid because I’m still incompetent and inexperienced. But just like the lion, I will have to find my courage to keep on going till the end.

I’m keeping to the yellow brick road.
